Three glasses of vegetable juice next to a slice of tomato and some carrots and cucumber.

Here are four different recipes using the raw juice of the best vegetables for juicing covered here. Each is aimed at a specific area – detoxifying your liver, preventing cancer and heart disease, cleansing your kidneys and improving your skin.

In truth though, the health benefits of these raw juice recipes significantly overlap and most could be considered helpful in all of these areas, as well as many other facets of good general health.

Feel free to play around with the recipes and add extra ingredients if you like. Generally, vegetable juices are considered more powerfully healing than most fruit juices, so these recipes concentrate on certain highly nutritious vegetables. If you would like a bit of extra sweetness you could add an apple to the mix, but it’s better to keep the vegetables the predominant ingredients.

It’s also recommended to soak your veggies in warm water and a splash of apple cider vinegar to remove sprays and waxes. Additionally, some vegetables like celery, cucumber, kale and particularly carrots are best bought organic wherever possible.

Now onto the recipes.

1. Raw Juice for Detoxification and Liver Health

Ingredients for 2

  • 1 medium sized beet.
  • 3 medium to large carrots.
  • 1/2 a medium cabbage.
  • 1 ounce of parsley (often a standard sized bunch).

This raw juice recipe has betaine from the beet for reducing fatty deposits in the liver, healing carrots with their high levels of antioxidants, cabbage which stimulates liver detoxifying enzymes and powerful parsley for liver health.

As optional extras, and apple with its pectin to remove toxins from the digestive tract and about an inch of fresh ginger with its volatile oils are beneficial editions.

Juice all of the ingredients, stir and drink immediately.

2. Raw Juice for Cancer Prevention and a Healthy Heart

Ingredients for 2

  • 3 medium tomatoes.
  • 2 medium to large carrots.
  • 3 stalks of celery.
  • 4 branches of kale.

Tomatoes are rich in the heart protecting and cancer preventing antioxidant lycopene. Carrots adds a sweetness to the juice and many more antioxidants. Celery helps reduce high blood pressure and improves heart health. While kale is a nutritional powerhouse with both cardiovascular and anti-cancer benefits.

As with the parsley in the previous recipe, kale is best used with a good masticating juicer like this one I use. If you’re using a basic centrifugal juicer, you’re probably better off saving the kale or parsley for a meal, or alternatively use them in a healthy smoothie.

3. Raw Juice for Cleansing and Kidney Health

Ingredients for 2

  • 1 large cucumber.
  • 3 stalks of celery.
  • 1 ounce of parsley.
  • 3 medium to large carrots.

Cucumber and parsley a both particularly beneficial for your kidneys and may help to prevent or even treat kidney stones. While celery and carrot are together excellent internal cleanses and toxin removers.

Once again, and apple and an inch of fresh ginger is a fine addition to improve both the flavor and health benefits of this raw juice recipe.
